Validation

There’s often a moment in life when an event happens and it acts as a catalyst. I have had a few in my life. Last week I had a real moment of fist pumping and joy. I was a runner up in a national short story competition. Now, some may argue that only winning counts but to me, I felt it was a credible validation that I should continue with my writing and be proud of my efforts.
I have struggled like so many writers to find an agent, a publisher. Wondering if I can really write and if I can why is no one wanting to read it and act upon it. So although I didn’t win the competition, I was still thrilled that I was good enough to be short listed and then placed in the top three.
It has reinvigorated my desire to write and get the words on the page. With the kind help of a friend who is acting as my editor, I am now putting the silly mistakes right and letting the flow of energy weave through my story.
I have a young relative who loves to write and another older one who loves to write poetry, I hope I act as a example to never give up and persevere. For just around the corner is that one moment which allows your words to be heard by the many.
So if you are reading this and thinking of giving up, don’t. Take a deep breath and know that maybe your moment is just around the corner.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe.
